About Larry Shine
Thanks for stopping by EBGH's website. Like most of you, I am a hunter who, also like most of you began this hunting life as a child with the primary targets being squirrels and rabbits. During my preteens I fell in love with the bow and arrow and would spend days in the fields looking for fair game. Although this was long before computers and hand held entertainment devices, archery became my connection to the outdoors. That said, I also became quite fond of shooting rifles, competing with handguns and have recently stepped into the smoky world of muzzle loaders. My Father was a mostly absentee career soldier and my Mother was left to referee the 8 children in the home. We learned early that the television, when we finally got one, was no substitute for entertaining oneself with the constant maternal reminders to get outside while it was nice!

I began hunting with my older brother and my Mother made sure I had plenty of male influence by keeping me in the boy scouts. This love for hiking, camping and the primitive skills one learns in the process only added to my desire to hunt, not because I was keeping score of the game I took, but it was a natural excuse to be out of doors. After years of hunting, and then fishing and then bass fishing and then tournament fishing I was invited to hunt some exotic sheep. I did and was hooked. I put down my rod and reel, upgraded my bow and began working on my "slams." Through that process two men began to influence my direction in the world of exotics. One was an outfitter named Thompson Temple and the other was a taxidermist named Danny Moye. From their combined enthusiasm and skills I learned much about hunting exotics and the business itself.

I am not a professional hunter and have a real job which requires my constant attention, so I hunt exotics when opportunities arise. I try to arrange those "arise-ments," at least twice a year. That is proportional to the number of years I estimate to have remaining and the wall space in my house for the mounts. Your stories and pictures will be the foundation of what we do here. Since this is a family-friendly site, I will edit or censor vocabulary that offends me or my wife, or children, or grandchildren.

I hope to create a repository for the average, and not so average hunter of exotics in the US. I have not singled out any particular type of hunter so I welcome those with a rifle, bow, handgun or muzzle loader to the site. For that matter, even those who use all four weapons and also throw spears are welcome. I hope to retell the daily hunting successes and failures for the education and entertain of all. I will also pay close attention to the scoring systems for those who, like me, desire to challenge themselves. Have fun with your visit and next time bring a friend.
